Having done a greatest hits tour in 2020 and 2021, the band announced that the profits from the shows would go towards recording a new album. When it comes out, it will be their first new work since 1995 — so this small, intimate show, is a must-see. Kate's latest EP, Look at it in the Light, was released in 2022 and features fresh tracks combining jazz elements. Who Am I But Someone boasts a funky drumbeat and riffs of bluesy piano. Combined with Kate's gentle voice, the melodic track feels ethereal in places.Yasmin Coe - Yes Basement - January 20 Honorary Mancunian Yasmin Coe is headlining a night of fabulous local live music at Yes Basement this new year.
Special guests at the Yes Basement include Empathy Test keyboardist Oliver Marson, and Manchester indie bands Pyncher and Harpans Kraft. Frontman Stuart Hopkins describes their earlier music as 'obnoxiously loud' - and this latest album released in the summer of 2022 is certainly not subdued - but it does sound different. Having had to reschedule their planned performance at Yes in November, the band will be in the basement this January supported by Brighton-based post-punk prospects Public Body.
With their big hit having just 48,000 listens on Spotify, this might be your opportunity to say ‘I was there’ on tomorrow’s superstars.
