International Cricket Council Chair Jay Shah has been appointed to the Marylebone Cricket Club's (MCC) newly formed global advisory board. This board replaces the MCC's existing world cricket committee and aims to be a leading forum for discussing and shaping the future of cricket. The board will be chaired by former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara and will include other prominent figures like Sir Andrew Strauss, Graeme Smith, and Heather Knight.

The MCC said it wants the board, which will meet virtually in the main, to be a "leading symposium" in the sport "to ensure cricket's future success". He is the former secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and one of the most powerful figures in the world game. Former international captains Sir Andrew Strauss and Graeme Smith as well as current England women's captain Heather Knight have also accepted offers to join the advisory board.
