As the search for Jay Slater stretches into Day 12, his 'heartbroken' friends and family have hit out at cruel trolls online who continue to peddle 'horrible lies' about the search for the missing teenager
The search for missing teen Jay Slater continues, with his loved ones having to endure online abuse from cruel trolls on top of worrying about the 19-year-old's whereabouts. The Lancashire local has been missing since June 17 after disappearing in the north-west Tenerife mountains.
Amid all this, the already anxious family and friends of the bricklayer apprentice had to deal with numerous unfounded rumours circulating on social media, including allegations of partying and false claims of finding Jay's body.Rachel Harg, the mother of Jay's best friend and the admin of the Find Jay Slater Facebook group, exposed how this trolling has further increased their suffering.
Jay's own mother meanwhile, expressed her trust in the authorities to the Daily Mail, saying: "The Spanish police are doing a good job and we are getting updated from the consulate so we just put our faith in them. I know people in the UK have come forward as well who were at the festival and they are giving details of what they know but I'm not being told about that. Jay's very good friends from home have also been over and have put up posters.
