She emphasized, 'I knew I was being kissed by my boss and that should not happen in any social or work environment.'\Following the incident, Rubiales was suspended by FIFA but remained defiant, refusing to resign until mounting pressure forced his hand. Hermoso revealed that she only realized the full extent of the controversy during her flight back to Spain, noticing people gathered around Rubiales' seat and his daughters visibly distressed. She claimed Rubiales then asked her to record a video together to address the situation, but she refused. Prosecutors also allege that Hermoso was approached on the bus to the airport, with team members asking her to approve a statement downplaying the incident, which she also refused. She stated Rubiales threatened to involve her family, to which she urged him to refrain.
