Friends star Matthew Perry died at his LA home on Saturday aged 54 Matthew Perry once revealed Jennifer Aniston said four simple words that hit him ‘like a sledgehammer’ while he was filming Friends. Perry – who rose to fame playing Chandler Bing on the iconic sitcom – died on Saturday aged 54. During his time on the show, Perry struggled with addiction and anxiety which he described in his 2022 memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.
At one point, he was taking 55 Vicodin – a strong painkiller – a day while filming, and didn’t ‘know how to stop’. The actor went to rehab shortly after filming ended Perry endured a nearly fatal health scare in 2018 which almost cost him his life – when his colon burst from opioid misuse. At one point, doctors informed his family that he had ‘a two percent chance to live’, but he fought for his life in a coma for two weeks, and spent many more months in hospital.
