The 30-year-old is the first Australian to win six individual Olympic medals, passing the group of Ian Thorpe, Leisel Jones, Shirley Strickland and Anna Meares on five. She did so with a brilliant run, finishing the course four and a half seconds faster than any other paddler, reduced to two after the narrow penalty applied for grazing gate 19.
