Did the Jets promote the right coach to become their new leader?
New York Jets' offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett talks to reporters before a practice at the NFL football team's training facility in Florham Park, N.J., Tuesday, July 30, 2024. head coach Robert Saleh, the front office promoted the wrong person, Jeff Ulbrich, to fill his role, according to one talk show host.
“The biggest problem for the Jets this year, though, has been your play call led by Nathaniel Hackett and Aaron Rodgers. The smarter move actually would have been to make Nathaniel Hackett the head coach of the team because he’d do less. If you’re not going to fire him, and you make him the head coach, we all know it’s on Rodgers. No gray area. ... Now you’re not masking anything."
It’s a loaded move, in so many ways. But of course, it all starts with the star quarterback Ulbrich is now tasked with leading: Aaron Rodgers. “I felt very protective of him,” Rodgers said during training camp. " I think thankfully a lot of that’s in the rearview mirror for both of us, but it’s been a tough couple years, with some of the stuff and then obviously the scrutiny with our offense struggling. I feel like he took a lot of it on the chin and wore it well, but we’d like to show some things this year."The jersey parade
