The re-elected SNP MSP thanked his constituents for putting their trust in him.
Jim Fairlie is 'absolutely delighted' to have been re-elected as MSP for Perthshire South and Kinross-shire constituency with a larger majority than last time. Turnout was 59.2 per cent of the 61,800 electorate - lower than the 69.6 per cent turnout for the Perthshire South and Kinross-shire at the 2021 Holyrood election.
Returning officer Thomas Glen announced the results at Dewars Centre, Perth on Friday, May 8. Jim Fairlie was first elected as MSP for Perthshire South and Kinross-shire in 2021. A total of 36,556 votes were cast in the Perthshire South and Kinross-shire constituency. The results were as follows: Amanda Clark : 4329 Jim Fairlie : 14, 707 Roz McCall : 9646 Helen McDade : 5128 Luke Thomson : 2599 A total of 146 ballots were rejected.
Speaking after the result to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, Mr Fairlie said: 'We had a majority of just over 1800 last time round and 5000 this time is massive so I'm over the moon, absolutely delighted and I genuinely want to go out and thank every single person that voted for me.
'I will absolutely serve everyone - whether they voted for me or not. 'That's what gets you back in when they actually trust you. And they have put their trust in me, which I am absolutely delighted about.
' A total of 283 staff manned polling places across Perth and Kinross on May 7 with the count taking place the following day rather than overnight. A total of 152 Perth and Kinross staff gathered in Perth's Dewars Centre to count the votes, with 36 tasked with opening postal votes.
A total of 30,462 postal ballots were issued to Perth and Kinross residents - about a quarter of the entire 124,065 Perth and Kinross electorate .
