Rep. Jim Jordan, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, has asked Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and another top state prosecutor to testify over Donald Trump’s prosecution. In letters sent on Friday to Bragg and Matthew Colangelo, senior counsel to the DA’s office, Jordan called on the prosecutors to testify before the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government on June 13.
His allies in Congress have also tried to use their positions to undermine the case, filing ethics complaints against Merchan and — as Jordan has done — seeking testimony from prosecutors. The baseless attacks against those involved has led to a surge in violent threats. Advance Democracy, a nonprofit that monitors right-wing social media, reported a flood of posts calling for violence and doxxing against the jurors, Bragg and Merchan.
