Simple Minds' Jim Kerr reveals how his father helped put a drunk Bob Dylan to bed before the legendary 1985 Live Aid concert. Kerr and his father were in Philadelphia the night before the show, where they encountered Dylan in a drunken state.

Simple Minds star Jim Kerr has told how his late dad Jimmy helped put a drunk Bob Dylan to bed hours before the song legend was due to play Live Aid .

Jim, 65, recalled: “I had so many events to do the day before the show and I had taken my dad with me. Jim, who had helped Simple Minds rocket to No1 that year with the hit song Don’t You realised something was up when his dad, who passed away in 2019, went AWOL.“My dad didn’t drink, but we were setting off the next day for the concert and I couldn't find him until, eventually, he turned up in the lobby.

Simple Minds will play what is bound to be another unforgettable outdoor show at Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park on June 27, next year.
