Jimmy Butler Intends To Become Free Agent In 2025 Wont Sign Extension With Any Team - RealGM Wiretap
Jimmy Butler plans to play out his contract with the Miami Heat and not entertain an extension with them or any other team that possibly would consider trading for him, reports Shams Charania on Stadium. Butler has a player option for 25-26, which would enable him to either become a free agent or could orchestrate an opt-in-and-trade scenario.
Butler would like to remain with the Heat and plans to have an outstanding 24-25 season with his eye toward securing a major contract next offseason. There has been reported trade interest in Butler from the Philadelphia 76ers amongst other teams. The Heat have shown no interest in considering a trade of Butler, sources tell Charania.
Butler has two seasons remaining on his current maximum contract at $48.8 million in 2024-25 and a player option for 2025-26 worth $52.4 million. In 2025, Butler could sign a four-year max worth $243 million with his incumbent team, or a three-year, $171 million max with a rival team. The Heat can only offer Butler an extension worth up to $113 million over two seasons.
