Pair watched on in Paris after completing a gruelling 700-mile walk and cycle challenge for the ‘My Name’5 Doddie Foundation’
As Ireland clinically defeated Scotland 36-14, to both finish top of Pool B and send their opponents crashing out of the Rugby World Cup, Irish film star Jimmy Nesbitt, and Scottish football legend and pundit, Ally McCoist, were pitchside in Paris at the Stade de France watching the game.
Although of course a diehard Scotland fan, before the game McCoist admitted that Ireland do have what it takes to win the tournament. Nesbitt, who is also a big fan of rugby union, was hugely confident ahead of the game against Scotland: “What defines teams is those who buckle under pressure and those that soak it up and love it. Ireland can play like a team of mad giraffes and they’ll still win this game .”
