For obvious reasons, making any sort of television programme right now is proving difficult – but not, as the BBC has shown, impossible. Today, the service begins filming a remake of Alan Bennett’s BAFTA-winningmonologues, which first aired on the channel in 1988 and 1998. Each episode features just one person in the role of a quirky character – which, in practical terms, means the BBC will be able to follow distancing guidelines while shooting with relative ease.
