Senior teams from Tyrone have a dire record in the Ulster Club Championship and Trillick face a tough opener against Crossmaglen on Saturday night in Omagh

A defensive masterclass against a star-studded Errigal Ciaran team saw Trillick regain the O’Neill Cup last month.

"Our boys have stepped up defensively. Rory Brennan is the captain of the team and he has shown great leadership throughout,” said Gormley.

“I think we trusted the level of conditioning we had. Playing a good team like Errigal Ciaran, they are never going to give up, particularly in a county final.“Full-time probably came at the right time for us and the wrong time for them - that broke their momentum. I think they’d thrown everything at us to come back into the game and full credit to them.

“We lost Mattie early, but that’s sport. You lose players and it isn’t something we dwelt on,” added the former Tyrone midfielder.
