The 32-year-old was sentenced for the killing of Enniskillen teenager John Paul McDonagh

The wife of convicted murderer Joe Joyce Jr has told how he is appealing his conviction and believes he will be acquitted.

In response to a request for comment following the verdict, Joyce’s loyal wife Ellen revealed he is now appealing his conviction - and confidently said he would be acquitted, reports Irish Mirror.“I was chatting with my legal team and they advised me not to comment about the case as Joe is appealing the conviction,” she said. "But I will speak to you after the appeal and Joe’s acquitted.”Ellen Joyce was previously the victim of a “savage attack” by her husband in a garda station.

As Joyce was convicted of the murder of Mr McDonagh, his wife collapsed to her knees in Dungannon Crown Court. On Wednesday, Irish Mirror also revealed how reality TV star Paddy Doherty claimed Joe Joyce insisted to him that he “tried to kill nobody.”
