Joey Barton has denied targeting female football pundit Eni Aluko in a series of abhorrent social media posts.
In January, the former Premier League footballer, 41, 'compared Aluko and fellow pundit Lucy Ward to the serial killers Fred and Rose West.'
Barton, who was dressed in a grey checked suit and a navy shirt and tie, entered a not guilty plea and elected for the case to be heard before a crown court Barton had compared Aluko and fellow pundit Lucy Ward to serial killers Fred and Rose West after they had covered Crystal Palace's FA Cup draw with Everton in January.
He said Barton had made references to the Black Lives Matter movement and claimed that Aluko was a 'token hire' and had benefited from 'affirmative action'.
