Joey Essex was left less than impressed when he was axed from the Love Island villa just days before the final, with the show's ex-contestants all returning to the villa to vote him out
Joey Essex has narrowly missed out on the Love Island final as he and partner Jessy Potts were the last couple to be dumped from the show before Monday evening's finale.
As the former islanders began to vote, it was clear that many were gunning for Joey and Jessy - with the latter saying she wished "Joey didn't p*** that many people off so they could come back and kick us out". While Joey was clearly unimpressed with the results, as the former TOWIE star said 'laters' while walking away from the firepit.
There was no love lost between Joey and his former flame Samantha Kenny either, as she voted for the pair to be dumped - which started a fiery exchange between her and Joey about their own relationship. While Joey declared that they were only ever friends, Samantha accused him of lying as she recalled their connection.
While he may not have seemed best pleased during the vote, upon leaving the villa, Joey said that he wasn't shocked. "I said during the compatibility vote that I had expected Jesy and I would get votes, so no it didn’t really come as a surprise, and I never expected to win the show."
