The Only Way Is Essex star Joey Essex has been labelled "too old" for Love Island by The Chase 's Mark Labbett. Joey, 33, entered the villa on Monday night, 3 June, in search of true love, stating he was "extremely single".
The Chase star Mark, 58, didn't hold back his thoughts on Joey's Love Island stint as he took to X, previously known as Twitter, to share a critical post. In front of his 156,300 followers, the quiz master retweeted a post from the Out of Context Football Manager account which read: "Joey Essex is 33, he should not be on Love Island. At that age I wouldn't even sign him on Football Manager.
However, it seems Joey's presence in the villa hasn't just divided viewers at home, as Chesterfield-born hairdresser Sam Taylor became the first Islander to be sent packing, after less than 24 hours. In a dramatic end to Tuesday's episode, Joey had to make his pick from the girls in the villa. The news led to tears in the villa as the Islanders found it hard to digest that Sam was leaving so soon. Reflecting on his sudden exit, Sam revealed that he was "disappointed" with the turn of events.
