John Lewis at the Trafford Centre will be opening on Boxing Day this year, alongside its Stratford store. Most other John Lewis stores will remain closed, but the Trafford Centre will be open with many stores participating in Boxing Day sales.
John Lewis will open on Boxing Day at just two of its stores nationwide this year - and the Trafford Centre is one of them. The department store has chosen not to open for the past two years on Boxing Day , to give staff an extra day off. But this year will see the return of Boxing Day sales at John Lewis at the Trafford Centre , and also at its store in Stratford, London. The other major John Lewis in Greater Manchester, at Cheadle Royal, will be closed on Boxing Day .
Its in-store sale will begin the following day on December 27. A John Lewis spokesperson said: 'The majority of our John Lewis shops will be closed on Boxing Day, however, there are some minor local variations. This year John Lewis Trafford and John Lewis Stratford - which both sit within shopping centres - will open alongside them on Boxing Day.' This year will see the majority of shops opening up at the Trafford Centre for the traditional Boxing Day sales. Queues usually start around an hour before stores open at the most popular stores like Selfridges, Lush and JD Sports. The only stores that have confirmed they are NOT opening at the Trafford Centre on Boxing Day this year are Marks & Spencer, Next and Beaverbrooks. They will reopen on Thursday, December 27 instead. The Trafford Centre will be opening at 8am on Boxing Day, and remains open until 8pm. Individual stores inside the mall may have different opening times so it's worth checking in advance if you are heading to a particular shop
