A veteran Victorian Liberal MP has sensationally accused opposition leader John Pesutto of claiming Moira Deeming had “organised” for Nazis to attend a rally on the steps of Parliament.
A veteran Liberal MP and former state treasurer has sensationally accused John Pesutto of claiming Moira Deeming "organised" for Nazis to attend the Let Women Speak rally held on the steps of Victoria 's Parliament in March 2023.
Testifying on behalf of Ms Deeming on Monday, veteran Liberal MP Kim Wells told the court that he had received a call from Mr Pesutto at “around 8 o’clock” on March 19, in which he was informed about the leadership team’s plans to expel Ms Deeming. “The other part, your Honour, of the conversation was that Mr Pesutto had told me that she had organised the Nazis to attend that rally,” he said.
Mr Pesutto’s representative continued to press Mr Wells on the issue, with the Liberal MP confirming that he had not heard Mr Pesutto make the same claim either in the Liberal partyroom or publicly.
