San Antonio native John Quiñones is the co-author of a new book detailing the time he spent reporting on the mass shooting at Uvalde 's Robb Elementary alongside a fellow ABC journalist. 'One Year in Uvalde : A Story of Hope and Resilience' was authored by Quiñones and María Elena Salinas , who spent a year in Uvalde investigating the aftermath of the massacre for ABC .
'This one, as I would soon find out, not only picked me but would change my life. The children who died looked and sounded like my children.' Quiñones' own son Nicco joined the reporting group, named Uvalde:365, and the father-son duo collaborated on ABC documentary 'It Happened Here; A Year in Uvalde,' which aired May 2023.
