John Souttar admits Rangers need to earn their Spurs before they even start dreaming of a silver Sunday against Celtic.
However, he’s adamant his team can compete with both this week’s opponents on the pitch and has challenged his men to prove that in their glamour double header. Souttar is up for the task - but reckons its vital his side build on their recent resurgence before even contemplating a potentially season-transforming victory over Celtic.
"So, yeah, if we do the basics it gives us a good platform and a good chance for attackers to win us the game. Thursday will be a completely different game, though. Moroccan kid Igamane has four goals in as many games while Danilo has shaken off a year of injury frustration to net in the back-to-back wins over Kilmarnock and County. It will be too late for this year’s title fight, where Celtic still lead the way nine clear of Aberdeen and 11 in front of Gers.
"There's a strong squad, a lot of talented boys, so it's always a lot healthier when there is competition, because it keeps it on your toes, and nobody's guaranteed to start. So you know, if you want to start, you're going to have to perform at your highest level. So yes, it's important we keep that up."
“And thankfully, Danni has come through it. I'm sure it will make him a better player. Will that time out make him stronger mentally? Yeah, of course. It means you don't take it for granted. You enjoy every moment on the pitch.
