The First Minister will campaign in Aberdeenshire North as the SNP tries to prevent Douglas Ross from being returned as an MP.
John Swinney has claimed the outcome of the general election in Scotland is on a "knife edge" as he warned a future Labour government would be forced to cut public spending.
"There’s just two days until polling stations open, and across Scotland the result is too close to call,” the First Minister said. He added: "Labour has baked £18 billion of cuts into their spending plans, they have promised to hold the door open to privatisation in the NHS and they are committed to Brexit – which has been a total disaster, especially in rural Scotland.
Swinney took part in a live radio phone-in yesterday where he was pressed by members of the public over his referendum plans. Swinney responded: "I've believed in Scottish independence all of my adult life. I believe it's the natural state of affairs for Scotland to be able to take decisions on the issues that matter to us.He added: "I want to be able to bring people together. That's what I said I would do as First Minister. And I think we can do that by respectful debate, where we listen to each other with care and understanding and come to our conclusions.
