EXCLUSIVE: A YouGov poll shows 60 per cent of Scots would not be confident of finding affordable rented accommodation if they lost their current home.
John Swinney has been urged to intervene on the housing crisis as a new poll reveals most Scots fear they could not find an affordable place to live if they lost their home.
South Lanarkshire is the eighth council to issue the notice amid amid "rocketing levels of homelessness". Around 10,000 children are living in such conditions with local authorities facing a desperate shortage of housing options. "Delivering more affordable rented housing would lift thousands more children out of poverty and go a long way to achieving the First Minister’s goal of eradicating child poverty entirely."The Scottish Government can and should commit to the necessary long-term public funding and give everyone in Scotland the warm, affordable home they deserve. Anything less is a decision to simply see the housing emergency persist and affect generations to come.
