Trailer for documentary on Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's trial promises new footage

Never-before-seen footage has been released from Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s libel trial in the trailer for the upcoming documentary about their bitter legal battle. A documented show titled Johnny vs Amber: The US Trial, released 20 September, focuses on the highly publicised libel lawsuit, which saw Johnny, 59, sue Amber, 36, for defamation over a Washington Post article after he was accused of domestic violence.

In the trailer, a text from Johnny is read out in court, saying: "She's begging for total global humiliation." The Hollywood actor then says in another court scene: "I'm not proud of any of the language that I've used.” Amber later states: "I've received thousands of death threats since this trial started, people mocking my testimony about being assaulted. I just want them to leave me alone."Johnny and Amber’s explosive trial came after Johnny won the trial, with Amber declaring that she is appealing the verdict. A spokesperson for the Aquaman actress said: "We believe the court made errors that prevented a just and fair verdict consistent with the First Amendment," a spokesperson said. "We are therefore appealing the verdict. "While we realise today's filing will ignite the Twitter bonfires, there are steps we need to take to ensure both fairness and justice." Johnny’s spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly in retaliation of the appeal: "The jury listened to the extensive evidence presented during the six-week trial and came to a clear and unanimous verdict that the defendant herself defamed Mr. Depp in multiple instances.Amber’s spokesperson said of her libel trial verdict: “When it comes to protecting the fundamental right of Freedom of Speech, we look at the jury's decision — to paraphrase a famous quote —— not 'as the beginning of the end, but merely the end of the beginning.’”
