David McGibbon greeted officers with vile racial remarks and repeatedly swung and clapped his hands causing his blood to splatter onto them just six hours after being released from prison.

A Johnstone man who was arrested just six hours after being released from custody has been given a jail sentence after "painting" the inside of a police van with his own blood.

Ms Yuill explained: “Police traced the accused within a flat and observed he had a wound on his right hand. The accused started to flail his arms around and clap his hands towards police officer’s faces, intentionally splattering them with blood. “During this, PC Pandher sustained a minor cut to his hand and this was covered in the accused’s blood.”The court heard McGibbon was taken to Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital in order to have his hand injury assessed.

PC Pandher received a Hepatitis B injection, a blood sample was obtained and he was given aftercare advice.Sign up to our daily Glasgow Live newsletter here to receive news and features direct to your inbox
