Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker looks every bit as terrifying as we had hoped as the first Joker trailer drops for the DC Comics movie.
Director Todd Philips has branded the film a tragedy rather than a comic book movie, and the first trailer hints at this, as it focuses heavily on character rather than plot. Soon Arthur is beaten up and he asks ‘is it me or are things getting crazier out there?’ and there are shots of Arthur in Arkham hospital where he sees a patient thrashing on a stretcher, and we see him stare at his reflection.
‘I used to think my life was a tragedy. But now I believe it’s a comedy,’ says Arthur – before he dances down a set of stairs and we see him in full Joker makeup walking into a lift.the first poster was released, featuring Joaquin’s villain looking dead behind the eyes
