Jonny Evans was denied a dream Manchester United return after having a goal disallowed against BurnleyThe central defender was a shock inclusion in Erik ten Hag's side for the clash at Turf Moor following a defensive injury crisis that included Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane.
After United endured a shaky opening with Burnley on top, the 35-year-old was delighted after heading home from a corner to put Man United 1-0 up against Vincent Kompany's side. However any celebrations were short-lived when the decision was sent to VAR for consultation, leading the goal to eventually be ruled out.MORE ON MAN UNITEDEvans was afforded a moment in the limelight before the end of the first half though as he played a glorious pass to Bruno Fernandes who slotted home with a wonderful finish to make it 1-0.
Evans last played for Manchester United in March 2015 before leaving the club and spending eight years playing for West Brom and Leicester. That goal was enough to secure victory at Turf Moor and end a run of three-straight defeats in all competitions.
