Kris Boyd suggests Jonny Evans as a potential solution to Rangers' leadership void in their defense, highlighting the need for experience and guidance due to ongoing injuries.

Kris Boyd, a former Ibrox forward, believes Jonny Evans could be the answer to Rangers ' lack of leadership on the pitch. Comparing Evans to influential past players like Ugo Ehiogu and David Weir, Boyd thinks Evans could bring a similar level of discipline and guidance to the team. With Rangers ' defense struggling with injuries, potentially including John Souttar, Leon Balogun, and James Tavernier, Boyd sees the 36-year-old former Northern Ireland captain's experience as invaluable.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Boyd highlighted the defensive issues at Rangers and the need for a leader, stating, 'I think when you look at James Tavernier, he is injured for a couple of weeks as well. It was already a patched up back four with the injuries they have had. I just look at Rangers, I don't really see any leaders in there. I know there has been rumors of Nathan Patterson, but I can't help but think of somebody like a Jonny Evans or something, maybe until the end of the season.' Boyd continued, 'I remember we were like this in the past - and I know it is going back a few years. But you look at people like Ugo Ehiogu, sadly no longer with us, and Davie Weir arrived and not even just what they gave you on the pitch but off the pitch. It was the professionalism on a daily basis, how to live your life, how to train in that football environment.' 'I just look at Jonny Evans and think - is that someone who could maybe , even for the next few months. He is obviously out of contract in the summer and I don't think he will stay there for much longer.
