Latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip as former Reds captain Jordan Henderson is being linked with a return to English football
Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is being linked with a surprise move back to English football. Henderson left the Reds in the summer of 2023 to move to Saudi Arabia with Al Ettifaq in a deal worth £12 million. Henderson made just 19 appearances for the Saudi Pro League club, who are managed by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard , before leaving to join Ajax in January this year.
The report claims that Sunderland are exploring the possibility of signing Henderson when the transfer window opens in January. The Black Cats are chasing promotion to the Premier League and are currently at the top of the Championship table, level on points with second-placed Sheffield United. It has also been suggested that Ajax would not prevent Henderson from rejoining his boyhood club should he express a desire to leave Amsterdam.
