Ruben Amorim has agreed a deal to become Manchester United's new manager after Jose Mourinho gave him a ringing endorsement.
However, Amorim downplayed such comparisons when he spoke to the media following the match. That said, he revealed that he'd received a congratulatory text from the Special One. "Mourinho is one of a kind," he told reporters. Amorim's Sporting side, meanwhile, were unable to build on their thrilling victory over Arsenal and were dumped out by Juventus in the quarter-finals. The club were facing domestic struggles at the time, and there was even talk of Amorim getting the sack at one point.
On Tuesday, Sporting all but confirmed Amorim's departure after revealing United's intent to meet the manager's release clause. Speaking on the heels of his side's 3-1 victory over Nacional, Amorim said: "Manchester United is interested, but it's my choice.
