Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was awarded the NFL's Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the 2024 season, edging out Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson in a tightly contested race.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was awarded the NFL 's Most Valuable Player ( MVP ) for the 2024 season, narrowly edging out two-time winner Lamar Jackson . Allen led the Bills to their fifth consecutive AFC East title, securing 27 of the 50 first-place votes from a national panel of media members, compared to Jackson's 23. With a total of 383 points, Allen surpassed Jackson's 362 points, marking the closest MVP race since Matt Ryan defeated Tom Brady in 2016.

\The award was presented at a glamorous ceremony hosted by hip-hop artist Snoop Dogg at New Orleans' Saenger Theatre, preceding Sunday's Super Bowl matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. 'I do appreciate it,' Allen expressed after receiving the MVP recognition. 'I think there are a few guys on my team who appreciate it even more than I do. This award isn't the reason why I play this game. Obviously, I want to be recognized as great at what I do and one of the best at what I do, but I still want the Super Bowl. That's our goal. But I will say this, this award means your team had a lot of success. We didn't get it done, but we will keep working until we do.'\Allen's impressive 2024 season saw him throw for 3,731 yards, 28 touchdowns, and six interceptions, resulting in a 101.4 passer rating. He also rushed for 531 yards and 12 touchdowns, becoming the first player in NFL history to achieve five consecutive seasons with at least 40 total touchdowns. Jackson, on the other hand, set career highs with 4,172 passing yards, 41 touchdowns against only four interceptions, and a league-leading 119.6 passer rating, earning him the distinction of NFL All-Pro quarterback. The last time a first-team All-Pro player didn't win the NFL MVP award was in 1987, when John Elway was the MVP and Joe Montana was a first-team All-Pro.
