Gymnast Josh was training for 14 hours a week until two bad falls set him off course. His mother says getting the right concussion diagnosis and treatment was a 'gruelling' process.

It took months for Josh to get diagnosed and referred to the clinic."I was blacking out on the floor, so I'd lose complete spatial awareness when I was tumbling, and I got a bit worried," he says."I'd lose concentration, it became really hard to focus, and then at home I'd just find myself getting headaches and I'd feel dizzy and light-headed and a bit nauseous."His mother Elisabeth struggled for months to get a diagnosis and to get for help for her son.

For the other 30 per cent, most are clear within three months, but for a small number like Josh, it can be a much longer road to recovery. It has advised setting up multi-disciplinary child concussion clinics, like what Epworth offers, but adjusted to best suit children.
