Joshua Zirkzee is likely to leave Man United and move to the Serie A this summer. Sources say a number of Italian clubs are keen to sign the striker.
The 24-year-old has been way down the pecking order and has rarely started for Man United this season, and could be allowed to leave in search of first-team football.
Having impressed in Serie A before his big-money move to Old Trafford in 2024, there is a growing feeling a return to Italy could be the best move for him. “So there are a number of Italian clubs looking at Zirkzee to see if he can be prised away back to Italy. “That will be where the most interest is coming from in the summer and it looks like his most likely destination would be to one of those clubs.
“If United can recoup a good fee for him, it’s something that they might be open to because it will boost their own transfer kitty to maybe strengthen their squad elsewhere. ”Man United’s plans to sell Zirkzee have come as a result of his lack of playing time, having struggled to make an impact under either Ruben Amorim or Michael Carrick.
The Netherlands international has started just one game and only played 101 minutes of football since the interim manager’s appointment and is not part of his plans. Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo have been the first-choice centre-forwards this season, with little opportunity for any other options to make an impact. Following the news that Carrick is set to take on the permanent role at Old Trafford, he is expected to move Zirkzee on with a view to landing a replacement.
