The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported shooting in the Hillcrest area near the 1100 block of Lane Ave. Street.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported shooting in the Hillcrest area near the 1100 block of Lane Ave. South.
According to JSO, at around 12:30 p.m., Officers responded to the 1100 block of South Lane Ave. about reported gunfire. When arriving at the scene, they were reportedly directly towards a specific apartment to conduct a safety check, finding an unidentified man shot.l The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department responded to the scene to render life-saving measures, but the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the JSO Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit are investigating the scene. Currently, no individuals have been detained, and the circumstances of the incident, as well as the relationships of those involved, are unknown.At this time police are not sure if the shooting was an isolated incident, stating a potential threat to the community.Road closed intermittently due to construction on CR-220 both ways between Baxley Rd and FL-21 Blanding Blvd. Detour in operation.
