A judge has ordered the owner of two apartment complexes to pay the City of Mobile nearly $250,000.Barrington Park and Manchester Park apartments first started

Barrington Park and Manchester Park apartments first started making a stinky situation for residents in 2023. NBC 15 news reported on the mountains of trash that were attracting bugs and rodents to the properties. The City of Mobile took action. It filed a complaint against the owner of the apartments and sent crews to clean up the properties. The city shelled out thousands of dollars to clean the trash and establish dumpster pick-up services.

In January 2024, the property owner was found in contempt of court after they failed to set up their own trash collection for the complexes. A daily fine of $1,000 also began accumulating from November 8, 2023, until the property was in compliance. A receiver was appointed to manage the operations of Manchester Park and Barrington Park in April 2024. At this time, a hearing was scheduled for May 17th. According to court documents, the city was ordered to provide notice of the hearing to the receiver. The city contacted the receiver and was told that he would be present for the hearing or someone from his office would attend. The court documents state the receiver did not attend and neither did anyone else for the apartments.

NBC 15 News went to the apartment complexes on Tuesday. A city spokesperson tells me the city stopped providing dumpster rental services several months ago. Each complex had dumpsters on the property and the parking lot and grounds were clean.
