A hearing over whether a temporary gag order should be made permanent during court proceedings in the case of Decatur Police Officer Mac Marquette is now down to a Judge’s decision.
) - Before the shooting, a tow truck driver trying to repossess Perkins ’ truck said a man threatened him with a gun and the police were called. Police say the shooting happened after Perkins pointed a gun at officers. However, Perkins ’ family disputes the claim, saying they never announced who they were until they began shooting.
Anderson relayed the rarity of the situation to officers. He asked every lieutenant and captain if there had ever been a situation in which evidence from a murder case was ever shown to the entire force.There was no real documentation about when the flash drive was handed from one lieutenant to another. They all said they didn’t leak the video themselves, didn’t provide access to the video and they do not know who leaked it.
Our family was granted access to body cam footage by the District Attorney’s office following the murder indictment, so we were already aware that body cam footage confirmed that Stephen was recklessly ambushed and murdered by the Decatur Police Department.
