He leapt up to make the catch, but the ball tipped off the top of his mitt and over the fence. It wasn't clear at the time whether or not Rodríguez had made the catch, and even the broadcast was convinced he'd just made a defensive web gem.
García stopped dead in his tracks around first base, staring into the outfield before coming to the realization that the ball had, in fact, left the yard. He then shouted something in the direction of the young outfielder before rounding the bases in celebration of his big hit.The home run was García's seventh of the season, and he knotted the game up at 1–1 with the solo shot in the fourth inning.
While he was pleasantly surprised to see the ball had gone past the fence, Mariners pitcher Bryce Miller didn't appear to be too thrilled upon the realization that Rodríguez didn't make the robbery.
