🔴 Junior doctors in England have voted to strike in a move that will throw the NHS into further chaos and pile more pressure on the Government in the ongoing pay dispute
Junior doctors in England have voted to strike in a move that will throw the NHS into further chaos and pile more pressure on the Government in the ongoing pay dispute.
The BMA is campaigning for pay restoration to 2008 levels – equivalent to a 26 per cent rise – and said there had been “no meaningful engagement” with the Government. “We have had a real-terms pay cut of more than 26 per cent since 2008. This year we were offered an insulting 2 per cent pay, which means with inflation at over 10 per cent, we are working more than a month for free.
The BMA had said junior doctors have been left with no choice as “patients are suffering and exhausted staff are burning out and leaving the NHS”. It accused the Government of “failing to see the crisis in front of it” and treating the public as fools with assurances that the NHS has all the resources it needs.
