Stargazers can enjoy a celestial spectacle this February as Jupiter and the Moon put on a show. From February 5-8, the gas giant will be visible close to a waxing gibbous Moon, creating a striking pair. The Moon will track eastward from Jupiter, eventually reaching Mars on February 9. Telescopes or binoculars will allow viewers to see Jupiter's four largest moons.
Stargazers have been spoiled so far in 2025 as six of the planets in our solar system have "paraded" across the night sky.
Since planets keep their position relative to surrounding stars in the sky, the Moon will track eastward from Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system, until it reaches the Red Planet, Mars, on February 9. From around 6.30pm tonight , Jupiter will be visible high in the southeast sky, according to BBC Sky at Night. It sits just above the star constellation Orion, famous for its belt formed of a group of three bright stars.
