Jurgen Klopp has been a man in demand since stepping down as Liverpool manager at the end of last season
The role has become available after Gregg Berhalter was sacked following the USA's lacklustre displays in Copa America, leaving them to finish third in the group stages. They had hoped that the former Liverpool boss would take up their offer to make him their successor.

In a statement confirming Berhalter’s exit, he said: "We are looking for a serial winning coach and a coach that can also build on the work that has already been put in place.
Klopp had previously been linked with the Germany national team role in April, but those rumours had since died down after Julian Nagelsmann penned a new two-year deal. The German boss insisted he would take a year out of the game following his exit from Liverpool earlier this summer.
