Lawyers for Andreen McDonald's family said they would pursue payment for as long as it takes. They said the victim's daughter remains in “a tornado of grief.”

A former Air Force cyberwarfare specialist who killed his wife, Andreen McDonald, in a rage and then burned and hid her body has been ordered to pay her family more than $210 million in damages. A Bexar County jury on Friday ordered former Air Force Reserve Maj. Andre McDonald to pay $110 million in compensatory damages and $100 million in punitive damages.

Andre McDonald is convicted of manslaughter, not murder The jury award comes two years after Andreen’s family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against McDonald, who battered and killed his wife after an argument about the couple’s businesses. The civil court trial lasted three days, and the jury deliberated for less than four hours before handing down its damages award. McDonald was not in court for the trial or the verdict.

Andre McDonald was a suspect from Day One Ferron sought $160 million in damages, to be split among herself, her granddaughter and Andreen’s estate. “His desecration of her body, hiding her body, burning her body, fraudulently concealing his acts, and failing to reveal his guilt to law enforcement and Andreen Nicole McDonald’s family … was malicious, willful unconscionable,” the lawsuit said, asserting that McDonald killed his wife for his own financial gain.
