Polling reveals the work politicians need to do to regain trust in British politics

The parties of both Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer have low levels of trust Fewer than a third of the electorate trust either of the main political parties or their leaders.

When asked whether the election would reflect the “concerns of people like me”, 35 per cent agreed, and just 29 per cent said the campaign would “make things better for people like me”. Over half said party funding and campaign spending was not open or transparent, compared to just 20 per cent who thought it was.

The polling is by Yonder Consulting and was commissioned by the Cross Party think tank Demos as part of its new Trustwatch 2024 project.
