The Vice President is expected to pay her respects to Sheila Jackson Lee's family
Just days after her departure, Vice President Kamala Harris was already making plans to return to Houston this week to pay her respects to U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee . Harris is among the dignitaries attending an invitation-only Celebration of Life Funeral Service on Thursday morning at Fallbrook Church in Houston .
Harris was just in Houston on Wednesday and Thursday to receive a briefing on Hurricane Beryl recovery efforts and speak to the American Federation of Teachers in her first week as the Democrat’s presumptive nominee to take on former President Donald Trump in the fall. President Joe Biden also is expected to meet with Jackson Lee’s family this week. Biden already had been expected to visit Austin on Monday night to deliver the keynote address at the Lyndon B.
