The Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Edinburgh share a close bond - with one royal author explaining that Kate looks up to the way Sophie has raised her two children and hopes to do the same with George, Charlotte and Louis
The Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Edinburgh are well-known for their close bond and are frequently seen chatting and laughing together at royal events. The two families both live near Windsor Castle - Adelaide Cottage and Bagshot Park respectively - and have spent years dedicating themselves to their royal duties and responsibilities.
In her book The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown, author Katie Nicholl wrote: "Kate is said to admire the way Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, are raising their children — Lady Louise Windsor and James, Earl of Wessex — in the bosom of the Royal Family but prepared for life in the real world."
Speaking to The Sunday Times, the royal said: "We try to bring them up with the understanding they are very likely to have to work for a living. Hence we made the decision not to use HRH titles. They have them and can decide to use them from 18, but I think it’s highly unlikely.
