Liam Payne's girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, has spoken out for the first time since his death, revealing the reasons behind her return to Florida days before his fatal fall.
In a heart-wrenching revelation, Liam Payne 's girlfriend Kate Cassidy tearfully opened up about the reasons why she left Argentina just days before his tragic passing. Kate was by Liam's side in the lead-up to his death on October 16, 2024. Tragically, two days before he fell from the balcony of his hotel room on the third floor, resulting in multiple traumas leading to an 'internal and external haemorrhage', she flew back to Florida from Argentina .
Since then, Kate has maintained a low profile, moving her possessions out of their shared London home and resettling in the US. In November, she attended Liam's funeral in Buckinghamshire alongside Damian Hurley, though she did not arrive with his family. Now, breaking her silence in an emotional interview with The Sun, Kate shed tears as she explained her decision to return to Florida shortly before his death. She said: 'I had a responsibility, we had a responsibility. We had our dog and obviously I never, ever thought this event would occur. It was a tragic accident and no, I never did think (he might die young). But, you know, we did have our own separate lives - this wasn't the first time we have travelled separately.' Since his passing, she revealed how she has been dialling Liam's old number just to hear the echo of his voicemail message. She's also left their shared Florida home behind and returned to her roots in New Jersey, reports the Mirror. Once comforted by falling asleep to his music, Kate now finds it too painful to listen to his tracks. While some of Liam's pals learned of his death through social media, Kate was hit with the devastating news by one of his friends. Her initial reaction was disbelief, suspecting a cruel prank, yet a 'bad feeling' hinted at the harsh reality. In response, her mum hopped on the first flight to Florida to be by Kate's side, who had 'blacked out'. Since the heartbreaking loss of her beloved Liam, she has taken to social media to share about their dreams of engagement. On Instagram, she opened up about a poignant moment where Liam had penned a secret note with instructions for her not to peek. She confessed: 'A few weeks ago, we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it. It said, 'Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged and together forever 444'. Liam, I know we'll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned. You'll always be with me. I've gained a guardian angel.' Her post continued with a declaration of enduring love: 'I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me everywhere I go. Forever yours, Katelyn 444.' In the spiritual realm of numerology, 444 is seen as an angel number, symbolising guidance, support, and love from the celestial guardians. Prior to Liam's death, she expressed online her overwhelming desire to depart Argentina, where they were staying. Kate said: 'I was so ready to leave. Love South America, but I hate staying in one place for too long and we were supposed to be there for five days, turned into two weeks and I was just like, 'I need to go home.'' Liam and Kate's first crossed paths in 2022 when the then-ordinary waitress served the superstar at a bar in Charleston, South Carolina. For Liam, it was love at first sight, and he promptly asked for her number. But their romance almost didn't get off the ground. Kate gave Liam her phone number but forgot to add +1 to her area code, as she had an American number.
