Kate Middleton seen paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth II last night
Kate Middleton paid subtle tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II on Tuesday evening as she and husband Prince William made their way to Buckingham Palace.
It was originally commissioned by the Queen Mother in 1923 when she had asked the royal jeweller to create the diadem specifically for her and was originally designed to sit low on the head. But after the death of King George VI, the Queen's younger sister, Princess Margaret, began wearing the Lotus Flower tiara, which has also been referred to as the Papyrus tiara.
Sat beside her was William, 40, who could be seen wearing a classic black tuxedo with a white tie, and his military medals pinned to his chest. The last Diplomatic Corps reception, which is usually an annual affair, was hosted by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace in December 2019.
