It's been 14 years since the Royal Family announced that Prince William and Princess Kate were set to wed. The engagement, believed to have occurred in October 2010, came nine years after they first met at St Andrews University in Scotland.
After the engagement was publicised, Kate's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, stepped outside their Berkshire home to share their joy. Following the announcement, her father Michael Middleton praised Prince William, stating "we all think he's wonderful." Michael Middleton expressed his joy over the couple's engagement, stating, "I would just like to say that Carole and I are absolutely delighted by today's announcement and thrilled at the prospect of a wedding some time next year. As you know Catherine and Prince William have been going out together for quite a number of years which is great for us because we've got to know William really well.
He also commented on the strength of the couple's relationship: "They make a lovely couple, they're great fun to be with and we've had a lot of laughs together. We wish them every happiness for the future."
