David Lynch, the man who orchestrated the acid attack on TV presenter Katie Piper, is up for parole, with a hearing scheduled for July, after being jailed for life in 2009
Daniel Lynch, a former boyfriend of Katie, 40, was convicted five years ago of arranging for Stefan Sylvestre to throw the corrosive liquid at the former model in March 2008. The attack left her blind in one eye and needing multiple surgeries.
A spokeswoman for the Parole Board confirmed on Sunday, 30 June that there will be a private hearing for Lynch on July 23 and 24. A parole hearing is granted when there is a “realistic prospect” of release, or to consider a move to an open prison, in the case of fairness or because they need more information from the person convicted.
He and Sylvestre were told by Judge Nicholas Browne QC they “planned and then executed an act of pure, calculated and deliberate evil”. Katie is now a successful TV presenter, podcast host and author, and received an OBE for her services to burns victims and charities in 2022. She has spoken openly about the operations she has undergone since her attack, as well as how it has impacted her physically and mentally.
