Katie Waissel retrains in law to sue Simon Cowell after 'The X Factor ruined my life'
Singer Katie Waissel, who competed in the 2010 series of The X Factor, has recently trained in law and graduated with a postgraduate diploma in law, as she plans to sue Simon Cowell's Syco Entertainment.
"I just wanted to be able to understand [the contracts] and to protect people from being manipulated in the future." She further claims that she was contractually given just £1 to appear on the programme's live shows, even though that same year saw Simco, of which Syco was the parent company, rake in a profit of £22.9 million. The current statute of limitations on personal injury is three years, so Katie will have to convince a judge to waive this before she can start legal proceedings against Syco Entertainment.
